Private retreats, focused on you

A private retreat house in the Colombian Andes, close to Bogotá, held in stillness and personal attention, where clarity rises and you remember who you are.

Five days of personal coaching, nature, meditation, nourishing food, and time to simply be. Come alone, with your partner, or with a small group of up to four guests.

The location

A different kind of space

The high Andean páramo surrounds the house: rare flowers in vivid colours, silver leaves, lichen written on stone, and white sand trails across the floor of an ancient ocean, leading to sacred caves.

Every corner of these mountains opens onto another breathtaking view, as if you have stepped into another world. Simply being here begins to heal.

Your host

A week of personal attention

Alain Lagger has worked as a coach for more than thirty years. His work rests on one simple truth: when you restore the connection with yourself, every other connection begins to flourish.

At Akhet, Alain brings his experience into a more personal setting. Together, you explore what is happening in your life, what matters to you now, and what you need to move forward.

Each retreat is shaped around you, drawing on a framework Alain has refined over many years. Where appropriate, additional practices, bodywork or ceremonies may be explored with local facilitators, depending on your intentions and what is available.

A day at Akhet

Each day finds its own rhythm.

The sun rising over a sea of clouds and the mountain ridge
05:30

Wake above the clouds

Mist rests on the lake, cows graze in the field, and the first light finds the ridge. Tea, a blanket, and nothing to rush toward.

The opening of the sacred cave framing the lake and the valley
07:00

Morning meditation in a sacred cave

These highlands are the ancestral home of the Muisca people. We enter their territory with gratitude and respect.

13:00

Walking meditation

A slow walk across the páramo beside your coach, in conversation or in silence. Then a sacred lake, and long quiet hours in the hot springs.

The cave at blue hour framing the valley lights and the lake
18:00

Closing meditation

Back in the cave at blue hour, as the first lights begin to sparkle across the valley. Then home to a warm, nourishing dinner by the fire, slowly, with nowhere else to be.

A fire glowing in the hearth
21:00

Fire ceremony

A quiet fire by the hearth, or under an open sky filled with stars. Together you look back on the day, and what it revealed is spoken and offered to the flame.

Questions & answers

What does Akhet mean?

Akhet is the ancient Egyptian word for the horizon, the threshold where the sun rises each morning. Its hieroglyph shows the sun resting between two mountains. The word grows from a root that means to shine, to become radiant, to come fully alive. The winged scarab is Khepri, who carries the new sun up through the horizon at dawn, so every sunrise is a quiet rebirth. Here in the mountains, Akhet is that same threshold: a place where the light returns, and where you return to yourself.

How long is a retreat?

The standard experience is five days. Shorter stays may be possible by arrangement. Dates and details are discussed personally with Alain.

What is included?

Your stay includes private transport to and from Bogotá airport, accommodation, nourishing meals, personal coaching, meditation and time in nature. It also includes six calls with Alain: three before your retreat, beginning with an introductory call, and three after you return home. Further sessions can be added for an additional fee. Other experiences can be discussed when planning your retreat.

Can the retreat include other practices or ceremonies?

Depending on your intentions and what is available, other practices may be possible. These are discussed individually and arranged with care.

How do I find out more?

Every retreat begins with a conversation. Alain offers an introductory call to everyone considering a retreat, a chance to share your intentions, ask your questions, and feel whether Akhet is right for you.

Every stay begins with a conversation

If Akhet speaks to you, Alain would be happy to hear from you. Whether you have questions, want to explore a retreat, or simply want to understand if it is right for you, the first step is a conversation.

Write a few words about yourself and what you are looking for, and Alain will be in touch to arrange an introductory call.
